OUR HISTORY - OVER 75 YEARS OF PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE

On December 23, 1935, ten employees from Matteawan State Hospital petitioned the Governor of the Farm Credit Administration (now known as the National Credit Union Administration) for the opportunity to form a financial cooperative. Fourteen membership shares were purchased for $5.00 apiece and the Matteawan State Hospital Employees Federal Credit Union was established.

Matteawan Federal is a not-for-profit financial institution that is owned and operated by its members. We provide our members with a safe and sound institution to save and borrow at reasonable and affordable rates. A volunteer Board of Directors elected by the members manages our Credit Union.

To join Matteawan Federal Credit Union, you must first be eligible for membership. If you are employed by the City of Beacon, Fishkill Correctional Facility, Green Haven Correctional Facility, Downstate Correctional Facility, Taconic State Parks Commission, American Alarm, a volunteer of the City of Beacon Fire Department, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Mid Hudson Lodge #188, or you are retired from any of the above employers, you, your immediate family and household members may become members.
