OUR HISTORY - 75 YEARS OF PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE

On December 23, 1935, ten employees from Matteawan State Hospital petitioned the Governor of the Farm Credit Administration (now known as the National Credit Union Administration) for the opportunity to form a financial cooperative. Fourteen membership shares were purchased for $5.00 apiece and the Matteawan State Hospital Employees Federal Credit Union was established.

Matteawan Federal is a not-for-profit financial institution that is owned and operated by its members. We provide our members with a safe and sound institution to save and borrow at reasonable and affordable rates. A volunteer Board of Directors elected by the members manages our Credit Union.

To join Matteawan Federal Credit Union, you must first be eligible for membership. If you are employed by Beacon Correctional, Fishkill Correctional, Green Haven Correctional, Mid-Orange Correctional, Taconic State Parks, Division for Youth, Talix Morris Singer, American Alarm, the city of Beacon, or you are a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Mid Hudson Lodge #188, you & your immediate family may become members.
